Volunteer - Promotion Committee: Social Media Sub-committee

Position Summary:
The Promotion Committee is looking to add 5-6 skilled and enthusiastic volunteers to join our Social Media Subcommittee. We promote the Promotion Committees’ efforts by sharing information and stories about the Calgary Stampede’s Promotion Committee events, its volunteers and Harry the Horse. Our mission is to promote Stampede ensuring that people are informed about Western Spirit all year round and inspiring them to join us during the 10 day Stampede Festival.
Responsibilities of this role may include:
• Monitor and engage with social media channels
• Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments • Maintain a unified brand voice across different social media channels while adhering to a set of committee social media guidelines
• Attend Calgary Stampede sanctioned events throughout the calendar year and produce live social media content
• Participate in Promotion Social Media Subcommittee meetings and assist in the creation and execution of a monthly content calendar
• Develop and curate engaging content for the committee's social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
• Assist in the planning and execution of a results-driven social media strategy for the committee's social media channels
• Collaborate with Promotion Committee members, other Stampede Committees, and the Calgary Stampede Corporate Communications Team in the creation and editing of written, video and photo content
• Collect stories and content ideas from Promotion Committee members, and the Calgary Stampede Corporate Communications Department.
Time Commitment:
The time commitment for this position is approximately 3 hours per month in addition to
• Four committee meetings per year (60 to 90 minutes in length)
• Four sub-committee meetings per year
• 10- 20 hours per month May - July
Qualifications:
• Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools is necessary
• Previous experience working in social media management and content creation - in a volunteer and/or professional capacity is an asset
