Why the Stampede? For over 100 years the Calgary Stampede has been the heart and soul of our city. It is both where and how we come together to celebrate our unique brand of western hospitality and community spirit. The Stampede is a not-for-profit, volunteer-supported organization with over 30 volunteer committees and more than 2,500 volunteers. Their time, passion, energy and leadership have made the Stampede one of the most respected volunteer organizations in the world. With the contributions of our volunteers, we will deliver exceptional experiences that entertain, educate and engage visitors. Our vision is to create a world-class, year-round gathering place for the community.
Promotion Committee is a year round committee that supports and promotes the Calgary Stampede by sharing western spirit and values.
Position Summary:
The Promotion committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join Harry the Horse sub-committee.
Responsibilities:

• Harry the Horse meet and greets
• Western spirit in a fun and engaging way
• Provides entertainment maintains costume and identity of Harry and represents Calgary Stampede in a professional manner. Harry volunteers start as a Wrangler, Harry's escort, while Harry is performing prior to performing as Harry.

Time Commitment:

• Must attend a minimum of six of eight Promotion Committee general meetings annually.
• Perform in a minimum of five events outside of Stampede 10-day.
• Minimum of 10 appearances during Stampede 10-day.

Qualifications:
• Friendly
• Enthusiastic
• able to walk for extended periods of time, and climb stairs in Harry the Horse boots.
